May family in town!

Happy Birthday to Jed! On May 7th Jed turned the big 30. He did not want to celebrate at all. So we celebrated big time with his mom, dad, and randi in town! Jed is a good guy. He has worked really hard and accomplished some great things in his 30 years. I am proud he is mine. Sure, he is a little....unique...weird, but I love it. Who wouldn't want to date the President of the Lubbock Reef Club? It keeps things interesting. What will be Jed's next obsession? First it was recording music, then orchids, then salt water fish tanks (coral), then scuba diving, now possibly running? Running easily must be a May thing, because Jed has honestly not ran over 3 miles in the last year. Then, while his family was in town we ran in a little race outside of Lubbock. Jed runs 6 miles in 57 minutes! How the..... Last year I trained for 4 months and it still took me well over an hour to run the same 6 miles. I'm amazed, he's a natural runner just like the rest of his family. Jed and his mom ran the 6 miler, and Bill and randi roo ran the 11 miler! I was proud of them. Hazen and I sat this one out. I wasn't feeling well at all. So hazen picked me some sweet flowers at the race. We also spent mother's day together after the race. Jeff and Tahna came over to play in the bouncer with us. Isn't Jade so cute? Bill kept knocking hazen over with the side poles of the bouncer and hazen loved it. Then jed kept throwing hazen up against the mattress in the living room, then randi and jed kept playing rodeo with Hazen, then grandma did flying malingas. Hazen got quite a workout! He loved every minute of it!! It was wonderful to have the May family in Texas.

Kendall's quilt

I made this cute quilt for my niece, Kendall. She stayed at the house with us while jason and raquel were in town. So I put the quilt on her little bed, so she would feel comfy in her bed. At first she didn't know it was for her, just that she liked it. Then she told me that I spelled her name wrong (she spells it KE for kendall.) she didn't quite know what initials are. KH for kendall hodgekinson. It was really sweet though. Raquel says she sleeps with it every night. I learned a lot with this quilt. I am really bad at free stitching, especially when you go over the same line 3 or 4 times to make the bird tail, or stems darker. I guess the smart people out there use a stabilizer, which I will definently try in the future. I loved working with pink material!!! The first two pics are inside before I washed the quilt, and the last one is outside after it had been washed a couple times.

Thomas the Train

While my sister was in town, we went to see one of Hazen's favorite things....a train. But not just any train. Thomas the Train. We went for a train ride and took pictures with Thomas. Then we pet animals, got balloon animals made by a clown, jumped in the jumper, got lost in a hay maze, and played with about 6 different train set tables they had. It was so much fun. Hazen loves vehicles...any type. The trains were so big he was so excited when we got up close. I would definently do that again. It was a little windy, so hazen is squinting in all the pics.

Family came to town!

My sister, Raquel, her husband, Jason, and their daughter Kendall all came to visit! Jason took his final nursing exam in lubbock while the rest of us played! Congratulations to Jason, by the way, who passed with flying colors. Kendall was Hazen's best friend. We went swimming everyday, went and saw Thomas the Train (pics of that to come,) and went to the science spectrum. Hazen just followed Kendall everywhere and loved to play and laugh with her. These pics are from our dinner at the Jazz restaurant. Jason got a whole bucket of crawfish and shrimp to eat. Hazen needed another car on the table so he took off his lightning mcqueen shoe. Very sanitary. We loved having them visit. Although the day they flew in we had quite a few tornado warnings, and lots of hail. Fun times in texas.

Cute little bunny!

We had a wonderful, easy going easter. We went to church, and then Hazen ran around finding easter eggs all afternoon. We had dinner at our house with Jeff, Tahna, and Jade. Hazen liked learning how to hop like a bunny with his ears on. During church Hazen started ending the prayers with "Christ, amen" instead of just amen like he usually does. He loves the nursery and cries everytime he has to leave sister perez and the bubbles.

Meet Wizard the Lizard

Well here is the cute little guy. Hazen is going through a rhyming stage, and said that his name is Wizard. Wizard is a good little pet. He is a chinese water dragon, and really pretty personable. He eats his crickets and basks in the sun all day. He swims in his pool, and keep a close eye on Hazen. We can pick him up and he lets hazen pet him. He can move fast though. When I try to put him back in his cage he runs up my arm and tries to get out. I like him, but I do not touch the crickets. They are really really gross.

Abilene Zoo

Jed managed to get one day off for spring break so we headed to a zoo near lubbock. We spent the night in Abilene and went swimming in the hotel pool. Hazen is a great swimmer and loved to jump off the edge. He really liked the warm hot tub. He kept going under and blowing bubbles. Hazen did so good to sleep in his own bed and slept through the whole night! The zoo was great too. We saw some really unique animals. The giraffes were great because they gave you crackers to feed them on a bridge that went over their pen. One reached up and grabbed a cracker right next to hazen. He also liked the rhino, zebra, monkey, and leopard. However, the creepy crawler room was by far hazen's favorite. He loved the snakes, lizards, and spiders. I was a little creeped out. The drive home was nice with a sleeping little boy and some huge windmills out our window. I had to work the next day, and when I came home Hazen had a new pet, and a new haircut. Jed said they were having a really good father/son day and so he went and bought hazen a lizard because after the zoo, hazen kept saying lizard (or snake) pet. Well, now hazen has a little lizard in his room. He really does like him, especially when he eats crickets and shows his pink tongue. I don't really want to talk about it....
